Who is Julz Ritschel?

Julz Ritschel is a Hamburg-based non-binary filmmaker and queer porn director whose work explores desire, intimacy, and forbidden love through distinctive visual storytelling. Born in Hamburg in 1984, Ritschel developed an early fascination with cinema and later studied German literature and media before completing a Master’s degree in Film Production at the Hamburg Media School, where they began directing their own short films. Ritschel gained international recognition with their short film La Cigale et la Fourmi (The Cricket and the Ant), which they wrote and directed. The film tells the story of a secret relationship between a student and her French teacher, portraying the intensity and complexity of forbidden love and taboo sex. The short screened at dozens of international festivals and received several awards, establishing Ritschel as a filmmaker with a strong visual voice and a talent for emotionally charged storytelling. Alongside their narrative film work, Ritschel has directed music videos and collaborated on a variety of creative projects in the independent film scene. Their work often focuses on queer relationships, emotional tension, and the visual atmosphere of intimacy, using carefully composed imagery to convey complex feelings without relying on conventional explanations. Today, Ritschel continues to develop new projects, and it is part of the Hamburg International Queer Film Festival.

Their film Orlando marks their first collaboration with ERIKALUST. This is a Trans Queer Period romantic porn film set in a conservative society at the beginning of the 20th century. This XConfessions porn film follows a woman who begins to question the rigid expectations of her life. Drawn by a mysterious connection, she meets a trans man who opens the door to a new world of intimacy, freedom, and self-discovery. As their relationship unfolds, both must navigate the boundaries imposed by society while embracing their growing desire. Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s groundbreaking 1928 novel Orlando: A Biography, often considered one of the earliest works of transgender fiction, this film celebrates love that exists beyond gender conventions. Orlandos is a tribute to those who dare to live and love outside the limits imposed by tradition.
