Who is Paulita Pappel?

Paulita Pappel was born in Madrid and is now based in Berlin. She is a sharp filmmaker, a bold performer, and one of the leading voices in contemporary feminist pornography. As a director, producer, intimacy coordinator, and long-time activist for sex-positive, consent-driven culture, she has spent over a decade working on expanding the way sexuality is represented on screen.

She was fascinated by porn from an early age and Paulita left Spain in 2005, escaping what she has described as its “Catholic, fascist idiosyncrasy” to study Comparative Literature at the Freie Universität Berlin. There, she discovered queer pro-sex feminism and became deeply involved in Berlin’s queer feminist community. Her political convictions led her to porn not just as a performer, but as an act of activism: a way to challenge stigma, reclaim representation, and embody sexual freedom on her own terms.

She appeared early on several XConfessions films by Erika Lust. Since 2015, Paulita has expanded her work behind the camera, building a multifaceted career across directing, producing, writing, casting, and performing. Her films, both short and feature-length, have been screened and awarded at international festivals, solidifying her place as a key figure in alternative, ethical adult cinema.

Paulita is also an influential entrepreneur. She is the co-founder of Lustery, the globally celebrated platform dedicated to the authentic sex lives of real couples, and the co-creator of HardWerk, an independent studio focused on cinematic hardcore and pro-sex feminist gangbang films. Through these projects, she continues to push for representation rooted in real desire, diversity, and agency.

Since 2013, she has been part of the curation team of the Pornfilmfestival Berlin, becoming its director in 2023. Her first book, published in German in 2023, is a reflection on sexuality, representation, and feminist porn.
