ASMR explained… What is ASMR porn?

Tomorrow I’m releasing a new kind of porn for women: my first ever ASMR adult film on XConfessions. So before I do so I thought I best clear some things up as a few of you have been asking me “…but what is ASMR?”

ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response and refers to a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine in response to certain sounds. It became an internet phenomenon a few years ago when people who have the capacity to feel ASMR (not everyone experiences it) started discovering it on Youtube videos.

ASMR triggers are wide and varied. From listening to the rain pour outside to watching someone fill out a form or someone whispering in your ear. Right now, Youtube is full of ASMR videos made by “ASMR-tists” that consist of one person (usually a woman) looking straight into the camera and whispering into mics that play into each of your ears as if the person is stood right next to you, or playing with different sounds and textures such as brushing their hair or stroking the microphone with a feather.

Most people associate ASMR sensations with feelings of comfort, and although it was started as something non-sexual, the result is very intimate and undeniably it can be, well, a bit sexy. Someone whispering in your ear, touching something lightly, gazing into your eyes - these, after all, are some of the things we commonly associate with foreplay.

Enter, ASMR porn…

In general ASMR porn – or you may have also heard it be called whisper porn – combines ASMR sound triggers with sex. Just like porn, there is a huge variety. From erotic whispers and nude hair brushing, to more explicit sex with high definition sound so that you can hear everything that is happening (think kissing, vibrations, moaning, the sound of spit in a blowjob). Basically, it’s the sound of sex.

ASMRtist Oh Jia Hao explains, “I want to evoke happiness… by infusing these fun and bright colors along with squishy textures to provide an ASMR feeling, it creates a tingling sensation.”

"I Am Your Mirror", the Givenchy Spring Summer 2019 campaign welcomed models to slowly eat juicy apples, squeeze grapes under their heels, and play with the textures of metal and rubber. The campaign video caught on and Givenchy later launched a competition for new ASMR talent to work with the luxury fashion house in the future.
