Who is Kali Sudhra?

Kali is one of the most recognized voices in the feminist and queer porn scene as porn performer, a writer, educator, and activist. She entered the adult industry because she was exhausted by seeing people fetishized, erased, or misrepresented so she chose to become visible herself to challenge stereotypes, shift attitudes, and bring intersectional feminism directly to the screen.

She was born in Tkaronto, on unceded Indigenous land within the Canadian settler-colonial state. She has Indian heritage and is proudly racialized, so she resists being reduced to boxes, especially those imposed by skin color, ethnicity, or stereotypes.

Her artistic name, Kali, honors her Indian ancestry and the powerful Hindu goddess who has become an emblem of queer resistance in South Asian LGBTQ+ communities. It’s a fitting symbol for a performer committed to breaking boundaries.

Beyond her on-screen work, Kali is deeply involved in activism. She is a co-founder of Otras, a union advocating for sex workers’ rights in Spain, and she consistently challenges the “whorearchy”: the hierarchy that places porn performers at the top and street-based workers at the bottom. She rejects those distinctions entirely, insisting, “I am a proud sex worker. Sex work must be decriminalized now.”

Kali’s life off-set was always a full agenda. By the time we filmed some of these art porn movies, she worked as an English teacher, gave talks, modeled, runed workshops on sexuality, and was part of the Erika Lust Films office team in Barcelona.
