The Fucking Playlist Takeover: Jessa Jordan

Erika Lust | December 23, 2020 | 10 min. read

Welcome to my Fucking Playlist takeover. Each week creatives from all over the world select their top songs for, you guessed it, fucking. This week, it's Jessa Jordan.

Jessa Jordan (noun) -- A fearless, sarcastic Black femme learning, living, and loving in Philadelphia, PA, USA. Tiny and powerful, Jessa swapped climbing trees in her youth for climbing poles in her 20s and is usually found dancing to equal parts Crime Mob and Portishead on any given night, writing wild-winged prose,  or acting as a digital paramour and mattress actress for devoted fans through JustFor.Fans/JessaJordan

The Interview

1. Name?
Jessa Jordan

2. Where are you from?
I’m an ATLien but I’m based in Philly now.

3. Describe your personality in three words?
Crazy. Sexy. Cool.

4. What makes you feel sexy?
I feel the sexiest when I feel powerful. That power usually comes to me right as I’m playing some sexy jams and taking a shower. It manifests in the clarity literally bathing me, purifying me until there’s nothing left but longing, lust and excitement. Add lingerie, a high heel, a choker and stir—then voila! The Jessa Jordan Sexperience awaits!

5. What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to (and why)?
That’s hard. I’ve been to probably close to 100 concerts so far. I wanted to be a music journalist when I grew up so I spent all my free time (and all my meager earnings in high school and college) going to shows. But I think it might be seeing Scary Kids Scaring Kids (one of my favorite bands of all time) only once before they disbanded and Tyson Stevens (the vocalist) passed away. After years of warping my copies of The City Sleeps In Flames and their eponymous second album, I finally caught them at the Theatre of Living Arts here in Philadelphia and got to hug their synth player, Pouyan Afkary, afterwards. They absolutely killed and I was just so happy to dance and mosh with my friends, screaming the lyrics to every song the entire time. Pretty sure I lost my voice for a few days after but it was completely worth it!

6. What’s your favorite part of your body?
My legs for sure. They’re the perfect balance of muscle and curve, strong and sexy.

7. What’s your favorite time to listen to music?
Anytime! I usually start my day showering and playing a Spotify playlist or whatever song is stuck in my head. I love listening to albums when I’m doing errands like washing dishes or responding to emails. I even bike around the city listening to jams—it feels cinematic to me to have a soundtrack for every activity I do!

8. How do you like to relax and unwind?
It depends on if I’m stressed out or just generally winding down my day. When I’m stressed, I like to indulge in a CBD bath with a glass of wine and some THC gummies. I’ll listen to really soothing artists like DVSN, Solange, Sampha, Kali Uchis, and Kelela for maximum chill. If I’m just winding down my day and not overly stressed, I like to cuddle on the couch with my live-in boo, Reid, and our cat child, Gambit. We’ve been watching tons of horror movies to get the vibe right for Halloween but we also watch goofy shows like The Good Place, Bob’s Burgers or Futurama. But that’s our routine each night to just eat dinner, chat, try to ignore our phones and immerse ourselves into some much-needed escapism together.

9. What’s your favourite thing about your partner?
So fellow adult content creator, Reid Castle, has been my co-star for a lot of my work over the past year and it’s become even easier since we moved in together during quarantine! We’ve been in a non-monogamous relationship for the past 2+ years and it’s been really fun growing and learning so much together. It’s hard to pick a favorite thing about Reid but one thing that really resonates is that he’s my loudest cheerleader. It doesn’t matter what weird plan I come up with, or whatever crisis has struck me, he’s in my corner working it out alongside me. He’s super adventurous and patient too—which are honestly the best qualities in romantic and sexual partner!

10. How do you get inspired?
I need so much help! It’s actually become kinda difficult in the pandemic to keep both motivated and inspired. I try to just keep my creative outlets open with writing and journaling for myself, singing, dancing or even just shooting something weird or different than my usual sensual bread and butter. I don’t overwork myself—which is harder than it sounds because I’m a Type-A Virgo who has to keep busy like a shark has to keep moving. But I love following visual and photographic artists like House Of Enid, Stephanie Priscilla, Kihmberlie, Yeha Jung (Creepy Yeha), Jessica Yupele (@SayHelloJess), Cora Harrington (The Lingerie Addict), Corwin Prescott and other creatives in various mediums to keep me on my toes. I’ve been really inspired by the visuals ChloexHalle have been putting out—they’re giving me LIFE. But most of my inspiration for shoots come from my own desire to represent girls and women who look like me (alternative, Black, queer and especially bald folks), in spaces we aren’t typically seen—like glamour, fetish and boudoir settings but also the fantastical, macabre or spiritual. I want more vampires, fairies, priestesses, seductresses, final girls and more who are unapologetically themselves, beautiful, femme, masc and everything in between.

The Playlist Breakdown

1. Your go-to song to get in the mood?
“Smile More” – Syd
Syd already has one of those buttery voices and I feature her solo tracks and work with The Internet in all my personal sassy time and performer playlists but this song really brings out my inner seductress in a way that makes my skin tingle and hips sway just right, every time. Throw this song on, take a sip of wine and give your partner(s) your deepest, most seductive, siren gaze and watch the sparks fly and your vestments disappear. It’s guaranteed to make any moment X-rated.

2. A song you have a fun or crazy sex story about?
So this one time in college, I banged a dude who had a girlfriend that he conveniently didn’t tell me about. We weren’t listening to any music while we were having sex but his friend next door was blasting Primus—I guess it was equal parts to tune us out and or to ruin the mood so we’d stop? The sex was awful though—we were both wasted—and he ended up biting me during his oral performance! I was swollen for a few days afterwards and it sucked to sit down and walk! It is to this day the absolute worst sex experience I’ve ever had. If I didn’t hate Primus before, I can never listen to them again now!

3. A song that always makes you feel sexy?
“Early Mornin’” – Britney Spears
As an emo, hardcore and metal-loving tomboy growing up, Britney was my guilty pleasure for a very long time. I remember embracing her fully and openly as insisted upon by one of my friends late in senior year in high school. This song always stuck out to me because she was starting to get into her own groove as she transitioned from teen starlet to grown woman sexy. But its something about this song’s tempo that just makes me want to slither and writhe around in the filthiest ways. It helps that it’s a song about a one-night stand and the walk of shame ending at like 6 am the morning after.

4. A song that you never get tired of listening to?
“III. Telegraph Ave. (“Oakland” by Lloyd)” – Childish Gambino
I will seriously throw this song on repeat on accident and still not change it for like 5+ rotations. It’s just such a good track. I love how Gambino did the nod to Lloyd with the radio recording aspect.

5. A song that reminds you of a lover?
“Boyfriend” – Best Coast
I was in a really abusive relationship for a couple years in college. This song makes me think about how much I longed for this guy to admit he loved me and wanted me. The whole album more or less characterized that time in my life and is still pretty bittersweet to me now.

6. A song that helps you relax?
“Like Smoke” – Amy Winehouse feat. Nas
In knowing the backstory to this song, its that much sexier of a collaboration but it also is just such buttery and effortless chemistry between them and the production is stellar. But Amy’s vocals really are so rich and dynamic on this track, and it’s my favorite song she ever recorded. It’s calming because the tune is so subdued and blends so many influences—its practically begging to be journaled to on repeat, used while you shower or the soundtrack of your next coffee or cooking date.

7. Last song you played for someone?
“Lick” – Joi feat, Sleepy Brown
I was hired for a bachelor party and I was DJing so this was the opening track and the other dancer I was with was like ooooh, what’s this? I love it! Needless to say, it was a big success!

8. The song that best defines you?
“Charger” – Gorillaz feat. Grace Jones
Grace Jones is one of my style icons and biggest influences as a model. I love her energetic and eclectic approach to music too! This collab is such a dope mashup of styles and is one of my favorite songs to throw on while I’m getting ready to shoot. It always amps me up and makes me feel like I can tackle anything the day hurls my way! One of the lyrics Grace croons is, “I’m gonna take you for a ride,” and I think it’s an accurate description of how I approach all the experiences I have in life, especially this year. I’m taking you on this adventure, get ready!

9. A song from a concert you loved?
“A Letter From Janelle” by Chiodos
The last time I saw this quintet was one of the final times they toured together before calling it quits officially and I am so thankful for that. The friend I went with, Courtney, and I had gotten moved because another fan was being drunk and aggressive right before the band went on and I had had enough of his shit and was giving him just as much sass so the ushers moved us to the balcony section right over the stage to avoid further conflict which was dope because we were closer to the stage and got to see everything perfectly! This song was one of the last they played that night and is literally so beautiful live because Craig Owens’ voice goes into another galaxy! He’s perfectly supported by the instrumental, from the first keyboard chord to the percussion in the chorus, verses and bridge—and those guitar riffs! The lyrics are so poignant, too (they’re rumored to be actual snippets of a breakup letter from one of his past lovers who was a woman that was apparently a bit older than him). Its just a really perfect rock ballad and it gives me chills to this day. Fun fact: I have the logo C for this band tattooed on my elbow because I am that level of fan girl lol.

10. A bonus song of your choice - Tell us why you chose it.
“Jalapeño” - Janelle Monae & Pharrell Williams
This song is so fun and weird. Its about being overwhelmed by a new lover and just being passionately in love and lust with them but knowing its probably not gonna end up working out and how similar that feels to being heartburned by a spicy pepper. It’s a fun track to get the night started with. I like it because it’s a departure from Jonelle’s pop-heavy songs and honestly, Pharrell is just a nice cherry on top.

Go and listen to the playlist now and treat yourself to some sexy time (maybe even while you watch some porn for women on XConfessions too 😉).
