Jessica Yupele is a model and self-portrait photographer, based in London, England. At a statuesque 6ft (183cm) tall, her photos frequently flit between imposing and delicate, often titillating and always interesting. Jess recently started a quarterly, online photo magazine, called "SUM" focused on darker-skinned women of colour.

3. Describe your personality in three words?
Dedicated, caring (to a fault), solitary

4. What makes you feel sexy?
On my own: photographing myself

With a partner: good conversation, and cuddling

5. What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to (and why)?
Life goal-wise: TOOL in 2017. I never ever thought I’d get to see them live and I flew to Boise (during a week-long trip to LA) to see them. I couldn’t really believe it until I was literally there in the venue watching them with my own eyes. And even then! It was a seated concert though, and the rest of the crowd seemed so mellow. I was the only Black person I could see (venue capacity: approx.: 10,500), and I was freaking tf out!! Moshing as hard as I could, on my own :D

Experience-wise: Deftones in London, 2017. They played the best I’d ever seen them and the crowd was out of control. I was on a high for 2 days afterwards.

6. What’s your favorite part of your body? 

It varies. Right now, it’s my broad shoulders.

7. What’s your favorite time to listen to music?
I don’t have a favourite time, I’m always ready. Always need music.

8. How do you like to relax and unwind?
Lately, if I get to bed early enough (i.e. not 4am), I’ll relax with Urban Exploring videos on YouTube. I’m currently working through Dan Bell’s ‘Dead Mall’ series

9. What do you think is the most important quality in a lover/partner?
Someone who not only listens but hears you too

10. How do you get inspired?
I’m very visual, so a movie or a photo/painting will usually spark something. Sometimes a piece of clothing I either have or have seen and want to photograph myself in. I’ve been known to hire a shoot space around a single piece of lingerie.

Star Treatment by Arctic Monkeys. It’s such a peculiar, unexpected little song. I love Arctic Monkeys because they are constantly experimenting, trying new sounds. And they never miss, in my opinion.
