Road Trip: How to Have Sex in a Car

It’s summer time which means it’s road trip season and time for some car sex! I love road trips; they’re the perfect carefree times, with no plans and no worries. And if you’re traveling with a partner or a sex buddy, they’re a perfect time to have uninhibited sex!

Not all of us are fortunate enough to have a camper van to hand, so I’m going to give you my top tips on having sex in your car this summer.

Talk about it

Road trips provide a lot of time for talking as you drive, so why not use this time to talk about the type of sex you want to have on this trip? Ask your partner what sexual experiences they want to have. Do they want to have quickies in the back of the car? Do they want to have outdoor sex? Create a nice space in the car

You don’t want to be having sex on top of all your dirty clothes and food packets (or do you? No judgement…) so if you’ve decided to have sex in your car make sure you create a nice, clean space for it. Clear the backseat, move all of your rubbish, and make it a nice calm space that you’ll want to have pleasure in. If you want extra privacy you could try hanging some sheets/clothes over the back windows.

Find somewhere private

This goes without saying but do not have sex in your car in a public place, I don’t want you violating public-sex laws. No busy public car parks, no tourist areas… you want to find a nice secluded place where you can have sex comfortably without the fear of someone finding you. It’s easiest at night, but if this isn't an option find somewhere in the countryside surrounded by trees or hills.

Be prepared

As with all sex, you want to be prepared. Have condoms on hand if you’re going to be having penetrative sex. Make sure you have some lube for extra comfort & pleasure. It’s a good idea to put a towel down underneath you to catch any bodily fluids and to prevent any stains on the car seats. If it’s a bit chilly, have a blanket on hand. Baby wipes are good for cleaning up afterwards, and water is always good to have on hand. Preparation is key!

Depending on the size of your car, it can be a bit cramped gettin’ down n dirty in your vehicle which means you may need to try certain sex positions to get the most out of it.

For manual sex (hand jobs & fingering)

This is probably the easiest type of sex to have in the car and it can be done from a few different positions. With one of you sitting in the driver’s seat and the other in the passenger’s seat you will have easy access to each other's genitals. But if you want a more intimate experience I’d suggest lying down next to each other (if possible) on the back seat in a spooning position.

For oral sex

This is slightly tricker and will require a bit more manoeuvring. It will definitely be easier in bigger cars and vehicles. For people with vulvas I recommend lying down on the backseat and for people with penises it’s a little easier as you can stay sitting upright in either the passenger or driver’s seat and the other person can lean over.

For penetrative vaginal sex:

This is easiest if the person being penetrated straddles the other person. If the person penetrating sits in the front passenger seat, move the seat away from the dashboard and recline it back until it’s flat if you can. Then the person being penetrated should hop on top and away you go!

For penetrative anal sex:

This is easiest if the person penetrating sits on the backseat of the car and the person being anally penetrated sits on top, facing away. The person being penetrated is in control of the action for this one - you can bounce up and down or use a grinding motion, and the penetrator can sit back and enjoy the ride.
